The Current show runs from August 15, 2009 through September 18, 2009

Annette Compton has been painting in oils for over twenty years. She is greatly influenced by the work of the Post-Impressionists such as Bonnard, Derain and Vuillard. Her painting trips to Scotland introduced her to the work of the Scottish Colorists such as Peploe and Ferguson. The work of Joan Eardley is particularly influential in these recent paintings. The first six are on exhibit at the Bucks Gallery in Newtown, PA through September 18, 2009.

Some have also seen influences of Munch and Hopper in her early work. "Painting in oils is the most engrossing for me. I enjoy the luscious play of color to produce a readable form under the influence of light."
