of the Carolinas This is the fourth season at Jerry's Artarama at the North Raleigh Hilton in Raleigh, North Carolina for this exciting trade show and series of workshops. Annette representsfine manufacturers of art supplies including Savoir Faire including Sennelier and Richeson & Company in her four workshops described below • FR08 Demystifying Drawing 9 AM to Noon, Friday, November 10, 2005 $80 Skill level: Beginner and Intermediate The energy and expressiveness of your line makes your individual mark as an artist unique. Yet the practice of drawing offers opportunities for your "left brain" to be fascinated by line, form, value and even color. You can now delve confidently into the world of expression in pencil, pen or brush. Annette shares her joyous drawing style coupling it with her fresh approach to watercolor. Exploring some of the exercises in her book, "Drawing from the Mind, Painting from the Heart" will help you take some of the drudgery our of the practice of technique and give you new confidence as a draftsman. All materials provided by Savoir Faire, Winsor & Newton and Richeson. • FR17 Take the Mystery out of Aquarelle Pencils 1 PM to 4 PM, Friday, November 10, 2005 $80 Skill level: Beginner and Intermediate We all buy those luscious sets of colors, but how can you incorporate them effectively into your own work? If you have ever been curious about aquarelle colored pencils, this is the class for you. Working on hot press watercolor paper from Winsor & Newton, we'll work from photographs to break down an image into expressive color learning how to translate it into lights and darks. Perfect for transitioning from drawing to watercolor. Bring your own set or enjoy the Cretacolor aquarelith, monoliths and aquastix provided by Savoir Faire. Consider materials for the workshop provided. • SA08 Pen & Ink and Watercolor 9 AM to Noon, Saturday, November 11, 2005 $80 Skill level: Beginner and Intermediate Pens of all kinds give artists the opportunity to draw quickly without hesitation. Consider the immediacy and smoothness of hot pressed watercolor paper and enjoy everything from sketchbook journaling to finished large scale watercolor work. Through chapters in her book, Drawing from the Mind, Painting from the Heart the links between drawing and painting are explore through this age-old technique of pen & ink and watercolor. If you have Micron or Sharpie pens, bring them with you or experiement with the materials provided. • SA19 Understanding Form in Watercolor 1 PM to 4 PM, Saturday, November 11, 2005 $80 Skill level: All Watercolor is one of the few mediums to show off the unique properties each pigment so clearly. From liftable to sedimentary, staining to opaque, it is easy to become confused by the plethora of paint personalities. You'll see for yourself why you may choose a limited palette to create certain moods or lighting affects. Try shape painting with a variety of fine colors from Winsor & Newton and Sennelier.
